We would like to invite you to the international conference 'The Human Person and Their AI', taking place from 24 to 25 October 2025 at the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana. It is organised by the Bioethicists in Central Europe (BCE), in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology at the University of Ljubljana, and the Centre for Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence and Ethics of New Technologies.

Artificial intelligence is entering all areas of our lives, changing our relationships and even interfering with our perception of humanity. This conference will focus on the ethical evaluation of this pivotal moment in human history. Above all, it will address the question of how to preserve the essential characteristics of human beings, such as relationality, empathy, teachability, independence and rationality, in the age of artificial intelligence. Experts from computer science, information science, communication studies, linguistics, pedagogy, philosophy, theology and ethics will engage in interdisciplinary dialogue to find shared solutions to current challenges.

Speakers will include Sarah Spiekermann, a digital ethics expert from the Vienna University of Economics and Business; Sara Polak, an anthropologist and technological archaeology expert from Prague; Kerstin Schlögl-Flierl from the University of Augsburg; computer science and artificial intelligence experts Mauro Dragoni from Trento and Octavian Machidon from the University of Ljubljana; translation technology expert Dagmar Gromann from the University of Vienna; philosopher Jonas Miklavčič from the University of Ljubljana; and ethics in education experts Odilon Singbo from the Catholic University of Zagreb, Mateja Centa Strahovnik from the University of Ljubljana, and Gusztáv Kovács from the University of Pécs.

All lectures will be delivered in English. There will be a discussion with the lecturer after each lecture. The lectures are open to the public. For organisational purposes, participants are kindly asked to register by 20 October 2025 at roman.globokar@teof.uni-lj.si.
