AI-THOS
Duration: May 2024 - October 2026
The AI-THOS project aims to develop and use resources, materials and methods for teaching ethics and research integrity (ERI). The main objective of the project is to train teachers to teach students about ERI in the age of artificial intelligence.
AI-THOS will design, implement and test an innovative and trans-disciplinary training curriculum based on art-based and inquiry based learning that will help trainees to explore the nuances of ERI, its key principles and its grey zones, and how to recognise and confront them so as in the long-term to enhance research transparency, eliminate AI biased content, improve public confidence in science and technology, and create high-value, high-skilled employment that will work on research-driven innovation. Along with students, an innovative and participatory ‘Train the Trainer’ programme will be developed to nurture a generation of trainers, educators and researchers capable of preparing high-skilled and ethical students and researchers of tomorrow.
To achieve this goal the specific objectives of the project are to:
- Explore successful educational practices and innovative teaching techniques by analysing and mapping innovative ERI educational practices.
- Equip educators and educational institutions with innovative teaching resources that propose an out-of-the-box implementation of ERI training in HEIs.
- Build confidence and capacity of educators/trainers to deliver ERI training that are broadly missing, by designing a ‘Train the Trainer’ programme that will provide them with up-to-date training resources on the basis of ERI and AI technologies
- Support the development of educators’/trainers’ and students’ competences and knowledge by implementing the innovative AI-THOS Curriculum
- Contribute to the diffusion and uptake of ERI integrity training across Europe and beyond.
